It’s no question that pregnancy is rough on our pelvic floor.. It’s a beautiful process and full of such wonderful change for many–but our bodies carry and adapt to so much. We carry extra blood, fluids, and the weight of a baby.

If we are taking time to care for our bodies during pregnancy, why does that care suddenly stop in the postpartum time frame? Why are women trying to quickly ‘bounce back’ to their old bodies without using pelvic floor therapy as a support to heal?

In this article we will review:

Women experience change to their pelvic floor throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Let’s start normalizing pelvic floor therapy and getting the right (convenient) support to do so.

This is where the MUTU Program comes into the picture. MUTU is a 12 week pelvic floor therapy program RIGHT in the palm of your hand. It’s a web app which means your pelvic floor therapist goes WHEREVER you go. The convenience is unmatched. Learn more and sign up for a FREE TRIAL HERE

What is a Pelvic Floor?

The ‘pelvic floor’ is a band of muscles that support your pelvic organs. Think uterus, bowels, bladder…

These muscles also stretch across the bottom of the abdomen and work to stabilize your spine. The pelvic floor also includes the vaginal muscles and sphincters around your urethra and anus.

So what does all of this mean? These pelvic floor muscles make sure you don’t pee yourself, poop yourself, or pass gas every second. They also support your entire body's alignment.

Take a look at this picture if you’re visual (like me).

How Does Pregnancy and Birth Affect Your Pelvic Floor?

Those same pelvic floor muscles work a lotttt harder during pregnancy. They are softened by the pregnancy hormone ‘relaxin’ all while holding the extra weight of baby, amniotic fluid, and more circulating blood.
When you have a vaginal birth your pelvic floor muscles are significantly stretched and strained.
When you have a cesarean delivery your lower abdominal muscles are severely impacted.

This isn’t even taking into account any ‘birth trauma’. Your body goes through so much. It deserves the time & attention to properly heal.

What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?

Pelvic Floor Therapy uses different physical methods to strengthen and relax the muscles of the pelvic floor.

This ‘pelvic floor therapy’ can be performed in-person with the help of an educated & trained doctor of physical therapy. Or, in the case of the MUTU System, with the help of an educated & trained doctor of physical therapy ONLINE–in the comfort of your own home. MUTU was the first online postpartum program and is still the only globally medically recommended program.

Why Does Every Postpartum Woman Need Pelvic Floor Therapy?

EVERY SINGLE postpartum woman needs pelvic floor therapy and exercises to properly heal and restore their bodies. There, I said it.

No matter the birth outcome, vaginal or cesarean, your body has been through SO MUCH. Without proper exercises and routine–your body just won’t heal in the best way possible.

Why do we wait until an issue arrives to heal and be properly supported?

Yes, you can wait until you are leaking urine months after the baby is born.

Yes, you can wait until sexual intercourse is painful.

OR you can sign up for MUTU System and perform life changing pelvic floor exercises in the comfort of your home. With your baby laying right next to you.

Let’s put our health and well being first. Let’s make pelvic floor therapy the standard. That way we’re not waiting until problems arise…trying to navigate where things went wrong.

My Own Experience with Pelvic Floor Therapy

I had a beautiful vaginal delivery at 39 weeks gestation. I had a second degree vaginal tear with repair. I immediately started my MUTU pelvic floor therapy online program at 6 weeks postpartum.

my REAL results with JUST using the MUTU Program

MUTU pelvic therapy completely transformed my recovery. Not only was I supported and uplifted by the online community of MUTU (which you get when you sign up), but I was learning how to be in my body again. Safely.

I never had a ‘mom pooch’ because I learned how to restore my core with the support of MUTU’s physical therapist and creator, Wendy. I never had pain with sexual intercourse. I never had leakage of pee.

I didn’t ‘wait for problems to arise’. I took action in doing my MUTU Program right from the start. And my body responded so well.

MUTU pelvic therapy will transform your life no matter what stage you are in. Whether you are trying to conceive, recovering from birth, or went through the journey 10+ years ago. This program is for everyone.
